• Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Inertia's Root is a prominent black-owned cannabis brand, known for its emphasis on holistic remedies. Utilizing organically grown, non-GMO hemp extracts, rich in phytocannabinoids, they produce an assortment of high-quality products.

Our first collaboration with Inertia's Root dates back to 2019. We developed an alternate logo for the brand, provided creative direction, and handled full custom apparel design and production for their inaugural 420 launch party and pop-up shop.

In 2021, we renewed our partnership with Inertia’s Root. Their CEO, Stuart McLean, entrusted us with full creative control. This allowed us to extend our services to include Art Direction, Custom Apparel Design & Production, and Packaging Design. Despite the pandemic hindering their plans for an in-person 420 event, they were keen on delivering an innovative and engaging online launch. Understanding Stuart's passion for sneakers, we decided to draw inspiration from iconic sneaker designs. Brands like Nike and Adidas have often released limited edition sneakers to commemorate 4/20. We found the Altitude Air Jordan 13 particularly apt, owing to its association with elevated states - a fitting metaphor for the cannabis-induced heightened consciousness. Furthermore, we incorporated Marvin The Martian, the extraterrestrial Looney Tunes character, as a whimsical pseudo-mascot for the launch.

For packaging, we aligned with the color palette of the original Altitude Air Jordan 13 shoe, released in 2005. This included Black, Altitude Green, Silver, and Red. We used black labels for the Indica strains and green for Sativa. The packaging lid featured a reconstructed version of the Jordan 13's signature ankle hologram, presented as a premium holographic sticker. The centerpiece of the label is a silver label, mirroring the one from the Jordan 13 shoebox. We redesigned the "Jordan Wings" logo, replacing "Air Jordan" with "Altitude". We finalized the packaging with a sleek blackout 45 dram container, celebrated for its ability to block harmful UV rays and preserve flower quality.

Our merchandise collection was intricately designed, incorporating elements from the packaging onto premium garments. The collection featured two designs on a long-sleeve 6.5 oz heavyweight crewneck tee and a 6.5 oz garment dyed crewneck. We utilized three different decorative methods: Embroidery, Screenprint, and 3-D Puff Screenprint. All garments featured custom printed neck tags. In a nod to retro Jordans, all purchases included a limited-edition Jordan-inspired retro card and an Inertia’s Root sticker.

In addition, we undertook product photography and crafted compelling copy for their website in relation to the launch. This comprehensive case study embodies the diverse, quality services we offer at Saul Good Art & Design Studio.
